Landslide in Udhampur, one way traffic allowed

Jammu-Srinagar highway has been allowed to pass one way traffic. Due to the landslide in Udhampur, a lot of cars were stuck in traffic jam overnight on the highway. The administration has only allowed vehicles from Jammu to go on their way to Kashmir.

As per sources “The landslide has led to one way traffic. Although machinery work is going on to remove the debris, a satisfactory space for all the vehicles has to be made. The traffic in opposition direction, from Srinagar to Jammu will not be allowed.”

The excessive snowfall in Kashmir during winters usually blocks the highway and other high altitude roads which tends to stop the traffic for days. Vehicles from Kashmir to Jammu were allowed yesterday.

Places like Jawahar tunnel, Mughal road, Banihal and Ramban usually experience snowfall and excessive rain forcing a closure of the highway.
