Kishtwar, June 10
Army organised a lecture on Road Safety at Chas in Kishtwar district, today to educate and create awareness amongst locals and students on the importance of road safety.
There has been a substantial increase in the vehicular traffic in the recent years, however due to lack of sufficient knowledge of traffic rules amongst locals, especially the youth the same has resulted in an increase in the number of road accidents resulting in fatalities and injuries. The lecture was attended by approximately 50 people which included students from nearby schools and local youths.
During the lecture, the locals were informed that road traffic accidents are one of the world’s largest hazards which can be prevented by exercising caution and by following traffic rules and regulations.
The youth were educated about the importance of following safety rules like using seat belts and helmets while driving.
The speaker also appealed to the locals to obey traffic rules, avoid drunk driving, use of mobile and various other aspects of road safety. The lecture was highly appreciated by the youth and villagers of Chas and nearby villages, which was evident from the overwhelming response.
