Leg of SPO critically injured by militants, amputated

Srinagar, May 30
The leg of a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police, who was critically wounded in a militant attack on Tuesday evening in Pulwama district, was amputated, a police spokesperson said.
He said the health condition of SPO Aquib Wagay is stated to be stable and he is recovering.He said militants fired upon SPO Wagay, at Puchal in Pulwama district on Tuesday evening. The injured was immediately rushed to local hospital from he was shifted to 92 Base hospital, Srinagar, in a critical condition.
Though security forces immediately lunched search operation in the area but the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
“Aquib is recovering in Hospital though his leg was amputated to save his life. We thank you all for the concern and blood donation which indeed played key role in saving his life,” he added.
