Feb 25: Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag on Thursday in no certain terms blamed Pakistan for sponsoring terror in India.
General Singh said terrorist groups like “Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad get candid support from across our western borders”.
He was speaking at the CLAWS (Centre for Land Warfare Studies) international seminar in the capital.
Speaking about the Islamic State, the Army Chief said the terror group’s “growing influence through the social media has thrown up challenges of global and regional security”.
What is worrying is that these groups no longer can be dismissed as regional manifestations of violence,” General Singh stated.
He said such groups take advantage of international connected systems of finance, communication and transit to retain flexibility of reaching any part of the globe.
It is necessary for the international community to fight this menace as one by sharing of intelligence and adoption of training techniques from each other.”
The Army Chief stressed that there is an urgent need to address not only methods but also factors that contribute to the spread of terrorism.
