South Korean tech giant LG just announced the new V10, a phone that comes with two screens, two selfie cameras and a manual mode for video capture, all crammed up inside a tough durable shell of a body. The LG V10 introduces many a firsts for the premium flagship smartphone industry and will be available initially in Korea starting this month in five colour options: Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue and Opal Blue.
The company has further announced that the V10 will be available in the United States, China and key countries in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East soon with launch details and pricing to be announced separately.
The unique highlight of the V10 is its twin display setup that introduces a second screen just above the main display that functions independently to display notifications for weather, time, date and battery icon. Moreover, the second ‘ticker’ screen can be set to an ‘always on’ mode so it will continue to function even when the primary display is off. LG says, an always on screen won’t impact the phone’s battery life. Users can also use the second screen as a launching area for shortcuts and favorite apps.
The primary screen on the V10 has a 5.7-inch QHD IPS Quantum display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and 513ppi pixel density. Meanwhile, the secondary display is a 2.1-inch IPS Quantum one with a 160×1040 pixels resolution.
The second key highlight of the V10 is its dual camera setup on the front. It comes with two 5-megapixel front-facing cameras. One of the cameras has a standard angle lens while the second camera – wide angle – accentuates easy group selfies.
On the rear, the V10 has a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 lens and laser autofocus much like the LG G4. But, the V10 also gives you manual control over your videos so you can manually control shutter speed, frame rate, ISO, white balance and focus while recording. There is also an option to adjust the sound volume of the videos you record.
The LG V10 is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory expandable by up to 2TB via microSD card.
The 4G LTE capable V10 supports NFC and includes a fingerprint scanner. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and uses a 3,000mAh battery which is removable.
The LG V10 comes with a 316L stainless steel frame and dual-layer Gorilla Glass 4 on the front.
