Listen to PDD Casual/Need Based Workers

The protest/dharna of Casual/Need Based workers of Power Development Department (PDD) in support of their demands outside office of Chief Engineer at Bhagwati Nagar entered 10 days without any relent on the part of government and department concerned.
Regrettably, the protesters have become so peeved with the callous attitude of the government that they went on to stage half naked protest and also threatened to go on Kam Chodo Hartal to snap power supply, forcing the public to bear the brunt of protesters.
These employees have earlier staged protest several times but their protest turn a deaf year to all successive government.
They are demanding regularization after completion of seven years of service a condition prescribed by the government.
Not to speak of regularization, they are not being paid their meager salary in time thereby adding their woes.
If government has framed policy of seven years period for regularization then they should be absorbed without any loss of any time. Moreover, there is no justification to withhold their regularization after completion of 10-15 years of service with small salary.
It is to be mentioned here that whatever work is being done by the PDD, the credit goes to these casual and need based workers, who are working in very odd situation. Among most of them are sincere and working hard than permanent employees.
Several of them received serious injury while few were killed in short circuiting while performing their duties. The department concerned hardly takes any notice of their families after the incident.
In case they are not regularized even after putting 10-15 years of service then how they would be able to pull on their family liabilities with meager salary and left with small period of their service .
During NC-Congress government led by Omar Abdullah, an attempt to regularize 60,000 casual workers were made before assembly election but at the right time government put their case file in back burner, leaving in lurch their career.
A similar type of mockery have been made by Jammu Municipal Corporation with future of 467 youths, who were trained and completed all papers formality to absorb them in Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) but after some time JMC showed them thumb.
The peaceful protest/dharna is democratic right of every citizen.
But in case the government continue to ignore their genuine demands then it is not a healthy sign but on the contrary can prove a counter productive and unrest among the youths.
A disappointed youth can go to any extent if his/her grievances are not redressed in time.
The people of the state have very hope from present regime of PDP-BJP coalition government.
It would be highly appreciated if the present government and PDD do justice with these workers.
Earlier ignoring genuine demands of protesters have worsened the situation and the government was forced to accede their demands after a much loss of time and public money. The earlier the government negotiates with agitators employees the better it would be.
