Majalta Degree College to be developed as ‘Model Degree College’: Pathania

Pursuant to clearance from Department of Finance/Planning and approval of the State cabinet, issuance of formal orders by State Government today sparked off unprecedented festivities, fanfare and celebrations across the Majalta Tehsil.
A warm and tumultuous welcome was accorded to MLA Ramnagar, Ranbir Singh Pathania and he was taken in an open jeep right from Manwal upto Battal, Majalta, Bharnara, Dehma, Paldhai, Khoon, Balpur, amidst deafening beating of drums, bursting of crackers, distribution of sweets and dancing/rejoicing. The procession-cum-cavalcade of as many as 100-odd vehicles culminated at Khoon where Pathania expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Education Minister and the Union government too.
He further informed that firstly the College shall be made operational from a ‘make-shift/temporary location’ and then land will be selected and a Full-fledged building shall be erected thereupon. He further elucidated that, with the active support from Union and State governments, he shall develop and nurture this degree College as a ‘Model Degree College’ with all the modern facilities including well equipped laboratories, library, and computer labs. He further announced that admission process in this college will start from today itself and the classes will commence from 20th of July.
Pertinent to mention here that Degree College at Majalta shall feed pass-outs of as many as 10 Higher Secondary Schools and five Tehsils; Majalta and bordering areas of Jammu, Samba, Billawar and Ramnagar tehsils. And right from Udhampur to Billawar on Dhar road and then upto Samba, there was no Degree College in this 150 km-odd road distance. Also as per UGC norms each Tehsil has to get a Degree College whereas the Majalta Tehsil had no Degree College as Majalta had become a living model of political victimization and neglect and that Pathania had raised the issue during the last as well as current Assembly sessions and DDB meetings too.
As soon as the news of sanctioning of Degree College at Majalta spread, a wave of ecstasy and adrenaline went through the spines of the people of the area, especially students’ community which will be benefitted from the College.
Others who were present on the occasion included Bishan Das( Mandal Pradhan), Capt Gopal Singh, Dr. B D Gupta,Mohan Lal, Kuldip Singh, Romesh Chander, Chain Singh, Raghubir Singh (all sarpanches), Kirpal Singh and others.
