Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday busted the first ever drug supply racket being operated from Pakistan by arresting five person along with 10 kilograms of Heroin and Brown Sugar each from Narwal area under the jurisdiction of police station Bahu Fort.
Police has also recovered cash up to the tune of Rs 11.44 lacs from the possession of drug peddlers who were moving in a Santro Car bearing registration number JK03B 5905 towards Kunjwani for handling over this major haul of drugs to the other out state suppliers who were already in Jammu.
The above mention consignment was being transported from the border Tangdhar town in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley by two Kashmir based drug peddlers who were already under the scanner of Intelligence Bureau (IB). The consignment was to be handed over to the Punjab and Kerala based smugglers for its nationwide sale.
The IB was also chasing the vehicle from Tangdhar and had also informed the Special Operation Group (SOG) regarding their movement. Taking cognizance of the information received by the IB, SOG along with Jammu police tightened all the naka points and finally intercepted their vehicle at Narwal area according to a set trap while they were moving towards Kunjwani area for handling over this big haul to one Punjab based and two Kerala based suppliers.
During the checking police recovered 20 kilogram of Contraband (10 kg Heroin and 10 Kg Brown Sugar) from the car which was hided in a cavity in Dicky besides cash up to tune of Rs 11.44 lacs was also recovered from the vehicle. The two Kashmir based peddlers were immediately arrested by the police who have been identified as Shafiq Ahmed son of Fateh Joo resident of Dilwar Tangdhar Karnah Kupwara and Abdul Manan son of Mohammad Yousuf resident Tangdar, Kupwara. After the arrest the Kashmir based supplier were asked to call the other three out state suppliers who were in Jammu from last two-three days. As soon as the three suppliers reached the spot to collect this major haul of drugs, they were arrest by the SOG.
The three out state drug peddlers during interrogation disclosed their identity as Jithin P.C. son of Chandran resident of Padinjekundii Marudha, Mundapotty Mallapuram Kerala, Nizam-ud-din son of Sakeer Hussain resident of Thotakkad House Kunnumalpotty and Surjeet Singh alias Bitu son of Harnam Singh resident of Karnoke Beas, Amritsar Punjab at present Deoli Bishnah.
In this regard a case under FIR number 104/16 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered by police at police station Bahu Fort and the interrogation of all the five smugglers is going on to ascertain hidden facts and involvement of other persons in the trade.
Highly placed sources disclosed that both SOG and police are trying to find out any possible connection of these smugglers with the militant activates as the consignment was brought from Pakistan. There is a possibility that these youths were also smuggling weapons brought from the Pakistan as they have link over there.
Also the Tanghdar area from where these two hails is a border region and is now in news for being excessively used by the terrorists for infiltration while one of the other drug peddler arrested had also remained in militancy.
