Man held with heroine worth Rs one crore in Doda: Police

March 12: Police in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday claimed to arrested a man and seized 500 grams of heroine worth Rs one crore in international market from his possession.

On specific information, police laid a check post at village Dharra in Doda district today and intercepted a suspicious man, said an official, adding that 500 grams of heroine, concealed in a leather bag, were recovered from him.

“One narcotic smuggler was arrested along with heroin worth Rs One crore from Dharra village in Parvati area of Gundana, falling under the jurisdiction of Doda  police station today afternoon,” said SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas.

“A sealed leather bag with made in Afghanistan stamp containing 500 grams heroine was recovered from the possession of Zakir Hussain who was on way to Doda,” added Manhas.

“We are looking for his accomplice namely Talib Hussain of Village Haanch of Doda who handed over the consignment to him.”

An FIR No 37 has been lodged and a case registered under section 8/21 NDPS at police station Doda and investigation is underway, said the official.
