A pedestrian today died after been hit by a minibus at Domana area under the jurisdiction of police station Domana.
The minibus after hitting the pedestrian fell down into the canal and inflicted severe injuries to its driver also. After the incident relatives and the locals of the area held a strong protest by blocking the Jammu-Akhnoor road for hours demanding job and compensation for the family of deceased.
Aggrieved protestors were later calm down by the Sub District Magistrate North (SDM) Avani Lavsa and other officers by assuring them of appropriate assistance for the bereaved family. The deceased has been indented as Jatinder Singh (43) son of Lt Kartar Singh resident of Domana while the driver has been identified as Sourav Kumar Kalsi (21) son of Amarnath resident of Domana.
Reports said that the matador whose registration number is not available was being driven by its conductor Sourva Kumar who failed to control it and hit Jaininder who was on morning walk. The other people moving on road informed the police who launched rescue operation and shifted both the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu where doctors declared Jatinder as brought dead while its conductor is undergoing treatment. In this regard police has registered a case under FIR number 167 under section 279/337/304 A RPC for the future course of action.
