JKAACL holds cultural festival at the picturesque spot
Mansar, April 23:
The picturesque Mansar area lying in the outskirts of Jammu reverberated with mesmerizing voices and recitation of finest poetry by renowned vocalists during the cultural festival held here today.
The cultural fest, which was organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in association with Surinsar Mansar Development Authority drew people in large numbers. Secretary to Government, Department of Culture, Dilshad Khan was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Khan said that more such events will be held at such venues in future also. She also congratulated Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini for organising such a big event at the picturesque Mansar resort. Earlier while welcoming the guests and participants, Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that during his tenure as Secretary his effort has been to widen the canvas of cultural activities through outreach programmes aimed at people living in the countryside.
The three hour long electrifying musical events were attended by, among others, IG, Abhay Veer Singh, Special Secretary to Govt. Department of Culture, Reva Kumari, and Chief Executive Officer, Surinsar Mansar Development Authority, Vikas Gupta.
Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini was also present.
Apart from professional artists, students of Government Higher Secondary School Mansar also performed amid thundering rounds of applause from the audience. Renderings of Sufi poetry by Surpaul Singh, Zulekha Fareed and Anjusha Sharma were the major highlights of the programme.
The audience appreciated the holding of the event by the Academy describing it as a right step in the promotion of culture in the area.
