Despite announcing to make heritage village Mantalai an ‘International Yoga Centre’, both state and the centre government completely ignored it and didn’t organize any yoga camp over there on the occasion of international yoga day.
Quite embarrassing that the dream of former chief minister Jammu Kashmir, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to establish Mantalai as an international yoga centre has been shelved by present coalition dispensation of PDP-BJP as despite lapse of more than one year nothing practical has been seen on the ground.
And today on the occasion of the international yoga day the spot was completely ignored by both the governments as no camp was organized over there and entire focus was on the Government MAM stadium, Jammu where Minister of State for Prime Minister Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh was also present. Though, taking an initiative Yog guru Shri Shri Vijay Krishan Parashar organized a yoga camp at Mantalai to revive the lost glory of the historic place which was attended by about 80 people including male, female and students.
During the camp various ‘asanas’ including ‘Pranayam’ and ‘Yoga asana’ were performed followed by the meditation in lush green environment of the Mantalai followed by the religious discourse of yog guru Krishan Parashar.
On the occasion people also showed their resentment against the state and centre government for turning blind eye towards the Mantalai and demanded to organize yoga camp on International Yoga Day at Mantalai every year as it has been already announced by the former chief minister of the state that the place will be the international yoga centre.
Pertinent to mention here that the former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in a tourism conference held at Jammu on March 25, 2015 had announced that an International Yoga Centre shall be created at the heritage pilgrim spot Mantalai.
He emphasized that “Mantalai will be promoted as a brand yoga centre which will have a cascading effect on the flow of tourists to the spot. “I am sure that once the Centre comes up, the flow of tourists to Mantalai will increase”.
