The Business School University of Jammu inaugurated a two-day Management Development Programme for the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) dealers from the Kashmir province under the DISHA project today. The workshop is aimed at developing management competencies among dealers with the objective of improving better management skills and exposing them to a wide array of proficiencies that can be achieved through the adoption of specific techniques.
The workshop which is divided into seven sessions spread over two days was attended by twenty two IOCL dealers from different districts of the state. During the inaugural session, Sh. Anil Kumar, Manager IOCL introduced the objectives of the MDP and apprised the participants about the prevailing scenario in the industry and the impending need to change the system of doing business. Earlier Prof. B. C. Sharma Director, The Business School and Coordinator ‘DISHA’ welcomed the participants and introduced the resource persons. During the day, the first session was conducted by Sh. Varun Sharma, HR Manager, Reliance Jio, who spoke on the topic of ‘Self Development and Self Management’. He emphasized the need to initiate the process of introspection and the ability to recognize oneself as an individual separate from the environment and other individuals for success. He specifically talked about the methods, skills and strategies which individuals can adopt for effectively managing their goal and long term objectives. The second session was delivered by Mrs. Neetu Dhar, ex-trainer, Frankfinn institute, who spoke on ‘Leadership and Team Building’. While discussing the relevance of decision making, she suggested that leadership and decision making are concepts relevant to making successful teams and are required for effective planning and for fostering teamwork among staff members.
