Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday took oath as a member of 12th Legislative Assembly of the state.
The Speaker Kavinder Gupta administered the oath of office to Mehbooba in the former’s chamber in Assembly secretariat here.
Mehbooba was elected to the State Assembly for the fourth time on 25 June 2016 with a margin of more than 12000 votes.
The Chief Minister polled 17698 votes while her nearest rival, Hilal Ahmad Shah of the Congress got 5615 votes in the by-poll for Anantnag constituency, held on 22 June.
The constituency was earlier represented by her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for two consecutive terms.
The by-poll to Anantnag assembly segment necessitated due to the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 this year.
