The sad story of a mine victim namely Mohammad Shakoor son of Khadam Hussain resident of Lam Pukhrani village of Nowshera located close to Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district reveals that he has not been provided any type of help even after 13 years of a land mine explosion in which he was affected. Shakoor who born on 4th January 1996, was only seven years old when he faced the deadliest situation of his life. On a sunny day on 16th of July 2003 he was grazing his cattles near his house in Lam Pukhrani village when a powerful explosion took place under his feet which was a land mine blast and in this explosion his right feet got severely injured. ” I was rushed to hospital and remain admitted for several months and in an operation doctors removed my leg as it was damaged fully ” Shakoor said with tearful eyes. Since the time of explosion I am moving from one office to other and from doors of one political leader to other to get some help but have got nothing except helplessness and disappointment. ” With an artificial limb, I cannot walk much and have no other option than to walk a few metres and than to take rest for some minutes ” Shakoor said while narrating his tale of worries .
As of other mine victims neither I nor any of my family member was provided government job nor received a single penny of compensation and am living a life of a slave to that land mine which exploded 13 years back, he said. I came to the office of DC Rajouri to meet him with a ray of hope but DC is out for some ministerial movement and ADC is busy in some meetings, Shakoor said. When asked about his demand Shakoor said that he either needs some compensation for running life circle or need a government job.
