Mirwaiz condemns putting separatists under house arrest, use of force on Eid-Day

Condemning the use of alleged force against the people at Eidgah on Eid-ul-Fitr Day, chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq also criticised the government for imposing restrictions on separatist leaders.
Addressing Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in the Shehar-e-Khas this afternoon Mirwaiz, who was also put under house arrest on Eid day, termed the alleged use of force on people at Eidgah as a ” Eid gift” of the PDP-BJP coalition government. Mirwaiz said that people would not be cowed down by such oppressive and suppressive tactics and the voice for their just rights and their freedom would continue to be raised from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid and the oppressive attitude of the government would fail to break their resolve.Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, he said the foundation for Kashmir’s freedom struggle was laid on this day which Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) observes with deference and admiration ever since it was founded by Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq.He said this year the unified separatist leadership had decided to observe this day with unity.
Urging people to observe the day as per the joint programme to be presented before them on Saturday on behalf of Syed Ali Geelani,Muhammad Yasin Malik and APHC, the Mirwaiz called for making the programme a success.
Terming the situation in entire Islamic world as dangerous and a matter of concern for the entire Muslim Ummah, he made a passionate appeal to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) specially Saudia Arabia, Iran and Pakistan to come forward and help the Muslim Ummah overcome the deadly state-of-affairs they are caught in.Stressing that OIC and responsible Muslim countries were equally responsible for the situation the Islamic world the APHC Chairman said it would be unfortunate if they still fail to come forward to deal with the crisis. Terming the terrorist attack in Madinah Munawarah as cowardly and barbaric, he said Muslims can bear anything but not the desecration of their holy sites.
He said the situation in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Muslim countries and the way talk of destroying Haram Sharief by attacking it was in the air. If Muslim leadership did not wake up from its deep slumber and sink their internal differences to jointly ensure the safety of the Haram Sharief, then it would be unfortunate for the Muslim Ummah.
