A police party had a miraculous escape after a gang of drug peddlers attempted a murderous attack on them while trying to escape from the spot in R S Pura belt here today. However, alert Cops thwarted the nefarious designs of the accused and arrested three persons along with contraband of heroin and weapons.
Acting on specific information regarding flow of Heroin, a police party headed by SDPO, R S Pura Surinder Chowdhary today laid a special naka in Ward Number 8 of R S Pura in civil dress. When the police party identified the drug peddlers roaming in the area, they intercepted them. When the raiding party tried to frisk the persons, they immediately took out sharp edged weapons and tried to inflict injuries. However, the alert Cops thwarted the move and overpowered them after a little chase. “Three criminals who were riding on a Scooty tried to escape but were chased and apprehended,” police spokesman here said.
He said that during their personnel search 4.25 grams of Heroin, two syringes, sharp edged weapons were recovered from their possessions.
The accused were identified as Amandeep Singh alias Gaurav, resident of Nadi, Sandeep Singh, resident of Simbal Morh and Mohammad Saleem, resident of Makhanpur Gujran.
“They were arrested on the spot while Scooty was also seized,” police said adding that case under section 8/21/22/29 of NDPS Act, 4/25 Arms Act also registered against them.
