Mobile internet services unlikely to be restored

The mobile internet services which are snapped in Jammu from the last eleven days are not going to resume even by the end of this week in the backdrop of unrest in Kashmir.

Though, a section of media from past couple of days is reporting that the mobile internet services in Jammu will be resumed by tomorrow time and again, but contrary to this the provincial administration is not in a mood to resume the same at least by this week.

Divisional commissioner Jammu, Pawan Kotwal on being asked said that at least by this week the internet services will not be resumed in Jammu province as it could be misused by the mischievous and disturbing elements present in the society.

He said that since after the eruption of protests and unrest in Kashmir some rumor mongers were trying their best to spread fabricated and bogus hatred messages via social media to disturb the other regions also owing to which the provincial administration had decided to snap mobile internet (GPRS) services in Jammu for couple of days.

“But unfortunately the situation hasn’t improved in Kashmir and till date stone pelting and violent protests are going on in several districts over there. The rumor mongers could spread their hatred messages via social media which mainly included ‘Whatsapp’ and ‘Facebook’ now also which could disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu. Hence keeping all this in mind the GPRS services will not be resumed at least by this week” he added.

When questioned about the loss due to snapping of GPRS, he said that there is no loss due to the snapping of GPRS as all the business establishments and other agencies/companies use to perform their online task via broadband and leased line which are working normally and have not been snapped.
