NC women wing, NSUI protest rape incident in Khour

Scores of workers of National Conference (NC) women wing and media activists of Jammu led by Komal Singh Manhas held massive protest demonstration to register their resentment against incident of rape in Khour Police Station.

with slogans against the SHO Mohammed Iqbal, demanded severe punishment against him for his alleged heinous crime.
Addressing the protesters, Komal Singh Manhas said thaton one hand this incident has invited widespread condemnable on the other it is very unfortunate that Chief Minister of J&K, who herself is a woman, did not utter a single word of condemnation. She sad the incident has not only maligned the image of the police but also lost confidence of women on police force. Komal Singh further said that senior police
officials should not fall prey to any pressure and ensure Mohammed Iqbal get exemplary punishment.
“There should be no delay in delivering justice to the rape victim, demanding trial through Fast Track Court,” Komal warned. Meanwhile, a large number of NSUI members staged protest against the act of J&K police. The protest was led by
Avijot Singh (State General Secretary). Talking to media Singh lashed out at J&K police for such a shameful incident that too inside the Police Station.
Singh added that the people used to trust the police but such incidents add a fear among people against such law binders. Sunny Parihar (District President) also expressed shock over the incident and sought immediate action against the convicts. Sunny said that such an incident has not happened first time in the state. This is type of violation to Human Rights inside police custody is common.
