NERP training programme held at Kishtwar

A training programme for National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP) -2016, recently launched by the Election Commission of India, was conducted here today by District Election Officer, G N Balwan.
All the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Supervisors, District Level and Assembly Level master trainers were present in the training.
The training started with the elaborate introduction and background of the commission’s newly launched programme NERP-2016 which is aimed at improving the health of the Electoral Roll by removing the seventeen type of errors identified. Besides, the programme envisages rationalization of the polling stations to make it sure that the location of the polling station is convenient for all the electors of the polling area and have all basic minimum facilities as per the guidelines of the commission.
While interacting with the participants, the DEO said the drive is for overcoming the gaps which have been found by the Election Commission of India in the Electoral Rolls published after the Summary Revision 2016.
He further directed the officers to supervise the work of the Booth Level Officers at ground level and submit the proposals for the rationalization of polling stations with the consultation of all the stake holders of their jurisdiction with in week’s time.
