Independent legislator from Langate and AIP chairman, Er Abdul Rashid Thursday said in the Lower House that his name has been included in the Below Poverty list for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution.
“The Tehsildar concerned has included my name in the BPL list. I complained about it to the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, but no action was taken against the official concerned,” Rasheed said. Rasheed spoke after Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Basharat Bukhari informed the Lower House that Tehsildar Khour has been suspended for “including” the BJP legislator from Chamb in Akhnoor Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat in the BPL list.
“Tehsildar Khour has been suspended today for submitting wrong list of BPL list to the CAPD department,” Bukhari said. Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat had complained to the CAPD minister that his name has been included in the BPL list and there are discrepancies in the list.
Responding to the Rasheed’s complaint, Bukhari said told him that he should have informed the government. “I have informed the DC Kupwara,” Rasheed said. Bukhari replied that the Tehsildar Langate will be suspended after verification of the complaint.
“If you are right, then the Tehsildar will be suspended,” the minister said. Meanwhile, some opposition legislators created uproar over discrepancies in their constituencies. CAPD minister Choudhary Zulfkar Ali informed the House that the suspension has been ordered to send a message to the officers on the ground that mistakes would not be tolerated. “There can be errors in the lists because the data involves a huge population of the state. But we will ensure that the list is 100 per cent correct,” the minister said.

On the instructions of 2 Ministers, Basharat Hussain Bukhari, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation and Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution Department and Legal Metrology regarding complaints of lapses in framing of lists of beneficiaries under NFSA, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal has issued an order vide No 101/NFSA/1240-46 dated 9-6-2016 suspending Tehsildar Khour, Block Development Officer Khour and Tehsil Supply Officer of CAPD Department Khour. On the direction of these Ministers, Divisional Commissioner Jammu also ordered an inquiry with Deputy Commissioner, Jammu as Chairman into the incident of wrong inclusion of the name of sitting MLA Chambh Constituency in the beneficiary list under Priority Category. DC has been ordered to furnish his report within a period of three days.
Meanwhile Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has said that government will not tolerate any lapses in the list of beneficiaries and they want 100 percent transparent lists. He said that they want that deserved people should not be deleted from the lists and those who do not fall in the criteria should not fall in the list. He added that these complaints will be treated as serious because PDS is directly connected to the poor people and government will not tolerate any injustice with the poors.
