NGOs alleges siphoned off crores of funds by GM, Govt Press Srinagar

Anti Corruption, Anti crime Cell and RTI Commission (NGOs) have made startling revelations about malpractices at Government Press Srinagar, Jammu by Fahrat Hussain Qadri, then General Manager (GM) of the Government Press Srinagar.
Addressing media persons at Press Club Jammu, state president of the NGO, Ashok Kumar said that GM has siphoned of funds to the tune of crores of rupees while he was in service. He said Qadri is facing an FIR under number 121/2013 at Kothi Bagh Police Station, Srinagar for pilferage of 6500 kilograms of type metal worth rupees 32 lakhs in Government Press Srinagar and he was also charge sheeted for bungling of type metal but till date, no action has been taken against the officer.
“Qadri also outsourced jobs of value more than 40 lakhs in Government Press Jammu which include engagement pads, wall calendars, social welfare registers, note pads, file covers of exorbitant rates but he is still enjoying plum posting at Government Press Jammu,” Ashok Kumar said.
The accused, according to the NGO president, had also purchased and consumed straw board of rupees 20 lakhs for outsourcing without adopting codal procedures whereas his counterpart at Srinagar purchased these boards for the same job having better quality only at the cost of rupees 4 lakhs.
Other bungling by the officer include purchasing of digital printing machine 5 colour instead of 4 colour worth rupees 1 crores for his favourite firm by violating all norms, he said, adding that purchased machines stand idle at the Government Press Jammu whereas the machines purchased at Srinagar at the cost of rupees three lakhs only is in use.
