NIA arrests second son of Hizb supremo Syed Salahuddin

JAMMU, Aug 30: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested second son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin during a night raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar.

A source confirmed the arrest of Syed Shakeel Ahmad who works as a lab technician at SKIMS Soura. Last year, the central probe agency Syed Shahid Yousuf, another son of Salahuddin in a funding case. Shahid is lodged in Tihar Jail since.

Shahid was an employee of Agriculture department. He was posted as an agricultural assistant in Soibugh-his native village. Following his arrest in October last year, he was suspended from his job. A 22-member delegation of the civil society from district Budgam had called upon the then Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in October last year at her residence to convey their “deep concerns about the unwarranted arrest of Shahid Yousuf.”

The delegation while stressing that Yousuf is a noble, humble and absolutely peaceful citizen, sought CM’s personal intervention in the matter and made a passionate and earnest appeal to her to secure his release.
