NIA arrests two more in Kashmir in militancy case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Saturday arrested two more persons from Srinagar and north Kashmir’s Sopore in a militancy related case.

The accused Ishfaq Ahmed Wani, resident of Srinagar and Umar Bhat resident of Sopore were held in a case related to conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), and People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF).

NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10 October 2021 and initiated the investigation.

So far, a total of 25 accused persons have been arrested in this case by NIA.

NIA said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to the ultras.

Further Investigation in the case continues, it said.
