An officer of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), probing terror funding and terrorist activities in Kashmir, has now come under the scanner. The NIA has also started questioning this SP rank officer. Meanwhile, the concerned administration has also ordered an inquiry into the passport issue to Khurram Parvez despite the negative report of the CID department.
Highly placed sources said that this officer, who came under suspicion, was posted in Jammu and Kashmir till some time ago. Presently, he is stationed at NIA Headquarters in Delhi and is originally from Himachal Pradesh. He was in constant touch with Khurram Parvez, a so-called human rights activist arrested in the past in terror and anti-national cases, and Munir Choudhary, an overground worker of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The officer was a team member who conducted searches at Khurram Parvez’s house on 28 October 2020. He was also involved in the ongoing investigation regarding terror funding in Kashmir. Apart from this, he was also associated with the investigation of the case of Wahid Para, who was involved in the terrorist-political-police nexus case and the fired police DSP Devendra Singh.
Sources said that the officer under suspicion has allegedly passed on vital information to Khurram Parvez and Munir Choudhary. Apart from starting his interrogation, the NIA has also searched his house located in Himachal Pradesh.
