NIT not a communal issue

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw your kind attention towards the NIT issue which is being shown as a communal issue. NIT students faced the atrocities of the police just because they shouted slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai,Vande Matram and hoisted tricolor.

Non-Kashmiri students were beaten up by the police so brutally that some of them are hospitalized some have got fractures and some have got serious wounds. The question which arises here is, is it a crime to shout national slogan? Is it a crime to hoist our national flag in valley? Is it a crime to show patriotic feelings in the valley?

Though nit students were thrashed by the police but they could not change their patriotic feelings and were supported by whole Jammu. The government must take this issue as a serious issue. It is earnestly hoped that the students must be given assurance that they can continue to live up their life as they were living before. And it is also hoped that the authorities will take immediate and urgent necessary action against those who are making this issue as a communal issue.
