Large number of NIT students Friday staged peaceful protests here at Press club in support of their demands even as the NIT authorities are preparing to welcome the students as it has notified the time table for the resumption of classes from April 25.
Meanwhile, majority of outstation students of NIT Srinagar continue to stay away from the valley and carrying on with their fight with the MHRD. The students have given a call for day long Dharna on April 24 at Jantar Mantar to intensify their agitation.
At the same time they are gathering feedback of the students on whether to return to the campus ahead of resumption of classes or to stay put in New Delhi to carry forward their fight till all their genuine demands are met by the HRD Ministry. According to official sources the NIT authorities have now decided to resume the class work from April 25 and have appealed to the students to resume their classes but in response the outstation students have not yet decided on their future course of action.
To gauge the mood of the outstation students an online survey has been launched to gather the feedback from the students and know exactly where they can take their ongoing agitation to fulfil the common interests of the students. The parents of majority of NIT students are in a fix. They are facing a grim situation in the wake of prevailing law and order situation n ground zero.
