Nowhata gunfight ends, bodies of 2 militants recovered

The gunfight which started in Nowhata area of old city here on Monday morning ended in the afternoon with the killing of two militants who were holed up inside a residential house, officials said.
The PRO of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Bhavesh Kumar told Greater Kashmir bodies of both the militants have been recovered and handed over to Police.
He said identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.
“The gunfight has ended,” he added.
As reported earlier militants opened fire at a CRPF picket this morning injuring nine paramilitary CRPF men and a local policeman. The injured force personnel were moved to the hospital where the Commandant of 49th battalion CRPF Pramod Kumar succumbed to his injuries.
