Centre for Environment Education (CEE) Ahmadabad jointly with Department of Environmental Sciences and CEET J&K organized one day Climate Change Environment Educators conference at the University of Jammu today. More than 100 teachers and Lecturers attended the conference.
Priya Sethi, Minister for State Education, Culture and Information was the Chief Guest and Vice – Chancellor Prof. R.D Sharma presided over the function. Dr. Abdesh Gangwar Programme Director CEE Himalaya, Dr. Rahul Goswami UNSECO consultant Cultural and Natural Heritage, O. P. Sharma, IFS Director Environment Ecology and Remote Sensing, Sushil Kumar, Manager NABARD, Sh. Rajeshwar Jassrotia IFS CCF, Prof J. Jagannathan , Central University and Dr. Sanjay Sharma Department of Environment Sciences, University of Jammu were the resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi, while appreciating the efforts of organizers said that present government will take all steps to strengthen the environment education subject at all levels of school and college education. She also said that the present government will give major thrust and focus to environment education in its new education policy and make it a part of Climate Change State Action Plan for CC adaptation and mitigation measures.
Prof. R.D Sharma Vice Chancellor while speaking said that environment conservation has always been very close to Indian culture. He said that as compared to Foot Print concept of western society we in India believe more for Hand Print positive actions.
