One day workshop, interactive session on PMSSS 2017-18 held

One day workshop and interactive session on Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) 2017-18 was organized at Government Degree College, Udhampur. Registration for the scheme has already begun since April 16, 2017. Under this scheme, the students of the state are offered scholarship for pursuing undergraduate courses in Medical, Engineering and general streams outside the state. The amount of scholarship is paid by AICTE. Principal and faculty of several higher secondary schools and KV number 1 of District Udhampur attended the workshop. On this occasion, the principal of the college Professor S S Bhalwal formally presented welcome address and highlighted the various features of the scheme and emphasized upon creating a massive awareness among stakeholders about this unique scheme for the benefit of the students of J&K State.
He advised all present on the meeting that the students should not get trapped by middlemen/agents/touts. Prof. Raj Kumar, Convener PMSSS, gave power point presentation regarding technicalities of the scheme. He explained how students can register online and get and their documents verified and what precautionary measures have to be taken during registration, verification and counseling.
