Opening of new ITIs KVY yet to be finalised: Priya Sethi

Minister of State for Technical Education and Education s Priya Sethi today informed the House that Kaushal Vikas Yojna (KVY) under which there is a provision of opening of new ITIs in each un-covered blocks under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, is yet to be finalised by the Centre.
Replying to a question by Chaudhary Sukhnandan, Sethi informed that the Prime Minister had announced setting up of 1500 new ITIs and 50,000 Skill Development Centres (SDC) in Public Private Partnership mode. She said that in this regard the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment had sought details of locations including J&K State for setting up of such ITI’s and SDCs in the prescribed format. The Minister informed that the State Government had forwarded a proposal during 2010 regarding establishment of 50 ITIs in un-serviced blocks including one ITI at Marh, besides establishment of 142 SDC in PPP mode to the Centre. She however said that the scheme couldn’t be implemented during the 11th plan period. She said that once the scheme is approved by the Centre, the opening of ITIs would be considered in a phased manner.
