Panchayat, Local Bodies’ poll to be held in March -April next year: Nirmal

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today announced that much over due Local Bodies elections will be held along with Panchayat elections in the State in between March and April next year.
Talking to reporters here, today at the sidelights of a public darbar organized at BJP Headquarters, Dr Singh said that PDP-BJP coalition is committed to strengthen the democracy at the grass root level and in this regard the holding of Local Bodies elections and the three tier Panchayati Raj system is must in the State.
He said the process for Local Bodies’ and Panchayat is on and it will be completed by January end and from February the election activities will start.
Dr Singh maintained that on development plan work J&K will be a developed region during PDP-BJP dispensation.
Dr Singh said due to delay in holding of Local Bodies’ elections the funds  coming from Centre to be utilized through them remain unutilized for years together and for speedy development of the State, holding of these elections is must.
Making a scathing attack on previous Government, he said except making promises they failed to strengthen democratic institutions in the State and mislead people on the name of autonomy etc instead of strengthening the democratic institutions at grass root level.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the coalition in comparison to that is determined to empower people and complete the process of three tier Panchayati Raj system in the State by constituting Block Development Committee (BDCs) and District Development Committees (DDCs) also.
He, while reiterating coalition government’s commitment to a clean and corruption free Government, said the utilization of funds coming to State for development will be fully monitored and the administration will be made accountable for every penny spent on development.
Making a scathing attack on opposition parties, he said opposition is the soul of democracy and they also contribute a lot in development process. But unfortunately in J&K instead of making a healthy criticism, they oppose for the sake of opposition.
Maintaining that terrorism is a big challenge at global level, the Deputy Chief Minister said, the new face of ISIS at international level is a cause of concern. “ However he asserted that India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to frustrate the designs of terrorism in whatsoever form and shape it will be’’ he added.
He said Indian army is fully prepared and alert and it will not allow such forces to raise their ugly head. The Deputy Chief Minister said that India is capable enough to frustrate the anti India designs of Pakistan and the morale of security forces is very high since the Narendra Modi Government took the reigns of Government at Centre last year.
Dr Singh said to maintain a constant liaison with people and to listen their problems and take on spot decisions for their redressal, a BJP Minister will sit in party office once in a week.
A large number of people drawn from almost all the areas of the State thronged the Party Hqr to meet Dr. Singh and put before him the problems confronting them. He took up the cases of the people with the authorities of concerned departments for early disposal of the same.
While interacting with the people, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that the PDP-BJP alliance Government is committed to work for the welfare of the common people, in particular to the neglected classes of the society.
