PanthaChowk Encounter: Three terrorists killed, one ASI martyred

153 terrorists killed this year, surpassing the total number of terrorists killed in 2019

Three terrorists killed and an Assistant sub-inspector of J&K police was martyred in an overnight encounter at Panthachowk in outskirts of Srinagar district.

A senior Police officer said that three terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter, bodies have been recovered with arms and ammunition. However, the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

The operation was halted due to darkness, as the first ray of light struck this morning, the operation was resumed, the officer said.

During initial exchange of firing ASI of J&K police identified as Babu Ram was martyred.

Pertinently, 153 terrorists have been killed so far this year surpassing the total number of terrorists killed in the year 2019. In 2019 as per official figures 152 terrorists were killed.

Earlier, three bike-borne terrorists had attacked a joint team of police and CRPF near Panthachowk in which no damage was done, they said.

Soon after the attack, the fleeing terrorists were engaged in a gunfight by security forces in the nearby area.
