Parvez Dewan inagurates tourist facilitation center at Katra

Tourist Facilitation Center a joint venture of J&K Tourism & Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra, brought with the main aim and objective of facilitating the Tourists with regard to accommodation facilities at the Vaishnodevi Yatra and at the places of Tourist interest in and around Katra, thereby increasing the stay of the Yatries, by guiding them towards the other pilgrim/Tourist destinations of the state.

The said centre was inaugurated today by Parvez Dewan Advisor to Governor Incharge Tourism Department with other portfolios, in presence of Chief Executive Officer, SMVD Shrine Board A.K Sahu, Secretary Tourism Farooq Shah, Director Tourism Jammu R.K Verma, Deputy Commissioners Reasi, Jammu & Udhampur Sushma Chauhan, Simrandeep Singh,& Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Reasi Surjit Kumar Singh, Hotel & Restaurant Association President Rakesh Wazir. While inaugurating the Tourist Facilitation Center, Dewan said that Tourism right from Mughal Empire period had remained a main point of attraction for our state and it is also a fact that Tourism provides the maximum employment to the people in the state and as such every effort would be made to increase the Tourism potential in the State encouraging the participation of private sector in that.

The initiatives taken by Tourism department and particularly in collaboration with a private Tourism related  Associations like this in opening of this Tourism Facilitation Center will prove to be an asset and a mile stone in that direction.

Rakesh Wazir President of the association while speaking on the occasion said that steps like revival of old traditional route of Vaishnodevi ji  Kol Kandoli-Bamyal-Deva Mai-Katra route )by making a bridge at Bamyal,Joining of Sakaiter Domail Road with Surinsar by making a small bridge at Tahra, beautification of Katra Town by way of lightening etc. making of left over Road portion of Devi Ki Pindian, Hop on-Hop off buses, Taking of proper objections of Katra Master Plan before passing it through SAC/Cabinet etc. and such other steps already discussed in the last meeting with Advisor will increase the Tourist influx in the state.

Others who were present during the occasion including Sr. Vice President Virender Kesar, Vice presidents Rohit Dubey, Sumit Khajuria, Ajay Kotwal, Surinder Khajuria and others.
