PDP-BJP sowing seeds of discord: NC

Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Monday assailed PDP-BJP combine for sowing seeds of discord and perpetrating polarization by bringing regions and communities eyeball to eyeball situation as per sinister political strategy.

“There is a huge contradiction between words and actions of the coalition partners”, Rana said while addressing Provincial Vice Presidents and District Presidents of the Jammu Province at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.

He referred to the deceptive posturing of the alliance partners, saying while claiming to unite the regions and bridging the gap between different segments of society, they have unleashed their respective cadre to promote division on regional and religious lines.

Rana, however, cautioned the coalition not to undermine sagacity of the people, who were capable of reading between lines, and said National Conference will fight divisive elements and not allow their sinister machinations to succeed. He complimented the cadre for appreciating the need for strengthening amity and tranquility and remaining in the forefront to isolate divisive forces.

The Provincial President described lack of coordination between various components of the government detrimental to the interests of the sensitive state, which needs special dispensation for its unique problems. He said the previous government led by Omar Abdullah has taken a conscious decision on non-implementation of the Act, as it deprived major chunk of rationed population of much needed ration support. “For months now, the poor rationees are braving the brunt enforced by the insensitive and irresponsible government”, he added.

He also dwelt upon the prevailing fluid political situation and said that being premier political party of the state, the National Conference cadre had to get further activated to meet the challenge. “Dejected and disillusioned people of the state are looking towards National Conference with hope and we have to prepare ourselves to meet their aspirations”, he said and asked the functionaries to mobiles workers for identifying the problems and agitating these at appropriate fora.
