
PHE ITI trained and CP workers today held strong protest demonstration at the main gate of Raj Bhawan at Panjtirthi here today.
A large number of workers under the banner of All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Association (Jammu province) assembled outside Governor’s residence here and launched protest programme. Tanveer Hussain, president of the Association was leading the protest.
The PHE workers were shouting slogans in support of their demands and also criticized the higher authorities in the department for not addressing the pending issues of the daily rated, need base CP workers and ITI trained employees. They held strong protest followed by day long dharna. Besides Tanveer Hussain, several other trade unionists addressed the large gathering.
While addressing protesting workers, Mr Hussain strongly condemned the attitude of the previous Government for not paying any heed towards the genuine issues of the workers who are without wages for the last about three years. Their families are facing starvation and the senior officers have remained mute spectators. He demanded that these workers be regularised without any further delay. He said that former ministers Sukhnandan, Sham Lal and even Taj Mohiuddin failed to address their issues despite assurances. Even Sham Lal played a drama to tender his resignation just to befool the workers when he was PHE Minister.
The trade union leaders urged the State Governor N N Vohra to intervene personally and decide the fate of the ITI trained and CP workers of the PHE department. He demanded that all type of temporary workers be paid their wages before 5th of every month.
Prominent among others present included Deepak Gupta, Subash Chander, Manjeet Singh, Jeevan Singh, Mohd Sajjad Ganai, Pardeep Kumar and Arun Singh.
