PIL regarding dilapidated condition of roads in J&K

DB admits PIL and issued post-admission notice to CS & Ors

In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding dilapidated condition of roads in Jammu and Kashmir, Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Parveen Kapahi appearing for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Farz Iqbal appearing for the state, admit the PIL for hearing and issued post-admission notice to Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary PWD, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu/Kashmir, Commissioners of JMC/SMC and Commissioner Secretary PHE to file response within six weeks.

In the PIL filed by Advocate Jasvinder Singh, it has been submitted that roads in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir including rural areas are mostly in dilapidated condition. “There are pothole and ditches which are not properly leveled and surfaced. Moreover, no foot ways and foot path exist and wherever they exist they are in poor condition and encroached upon. JNF
