Plantation drive launched at village Barwal

Dr Parshant Bakshi, Associate Professor, Division of Fruit Science, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, has taken an initiative for planting of fruit plant and organized plantation drive today at village Barwal, Panchyat East, Kathua under Save Horticulture. MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia was the chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that coalition government is committed to provide healthy and safe environment to each and every person which will never be possible without the sincere efforts of each and every citizen of country and these type of initiatives will surely help us to save our motherland against the changing climatic condition.
He said that the Union government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been providing liberal funding to the state for accelerating developmental work in J&K state.
Dr Bakshi, in his speech, applauded the efforts taken by Sarpanch Shiv Dev Singh and . Dharminder Singh Jasrotia for taking keen interest in organizing this programme. Dr. Bakshi elucidated that there was a drastic change in the environment due to removal of tree cover. He stated that this initiative was started since August, 2016 and planted first plant in the Jasrota Temple and was happy to tell that till date more than 275 plants of different fruit crops like mango, guava, aonla, bael, lemon, jamun and kinnow were planted not only in J&K but also in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. He requested that each one has to work for One Person One Plant and should plant at least fruit plant on the special occasions like birthday, marriage ceremony, festivals and treat it like their own child and when after three years it comes into bearing they will consume the fruit of these plants and make their family members nutritionally strong.
Dr Amit Jasrotia demonstrated the plantation technique to all the farmers while Sandeep Gupta, HoD Rajbagh briefed the farmers about various departmental schemes.
Dr Bakshi, Dr. Bhushan, Dr Jasrotia along with MLA and Sarpanch distributed 300 plants of mango, guava and citrus to the local people and requested them to nurture these plants as their own child. MLA Jasrotia also planted plant in Panchayat Ghar and Temple premises.
