PM leaving for Chennai to take stock of situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is today leaving for Chennai to take stock of the situation arising out of unprecedented rains that have caused havoc in the state.

The Prime Minister had earlier spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and assured all help to the state. The National Crisis Management Committee(NCMC) had held an emergency meeting yesterday as the Met office forecast more heavy rains in the flood-hit Tamil Nadu.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said the Centre was in constant touch with the state government and all help would be given to it to meet the crisis. Fifteen NDRF Teams are already deployed in Tamil Nadu for rescue operations and more are moving.
