Prime Minister Narendra Modi out to ensure no escalation in domestic political war of words today issued a note of caution to his cabinet colleagues and party leaders. During the morning cabinet meet PM asked the ministers not to speak out of turn and indulge in no chest beating.
The kind of fragile political unity; over India’s surgical strike at terror launch pads across the log vanish. Delhi CM started it – asking the government to release evidence of the strike. Congress leaders like Digvijaya Singh quoted reports in Pakistani media and asked the government to neutralise the Pakistani propaganda. His junior from Mumbai Sanjay Nirupam called the strike “fake” forcing his party to distance itself.
With the chorus rising the PM had to step in to rein in his cabinet colleagues and party leaders. The PM told the ministers not to indulge in chest beating or open credit taking for the surgical strike. He indicated to ministers that from here on only those authorised by the government or the party chief will make statements in the media.
On other hand, within the earlier war of words between India and Pakistan, Modi’s move actually started isolating Pakistan internationally. As, India has put its concerns in front of the international community but the question is whether they would do something to address India’s concerns or not. This is a question of gathering moral support as nothing can be done in isolation. Yet, this political war of words and misgivings upraised by our so called politicians brought Pakistan back on track, to some extent.
Former army chief General Shankar Roy Chaudhary said India should “definitely not” put out anything on the strikes in the public domain as Pakistan’s army and intelligence are waiting to pounce on information about India’s operational techniques.”It is an on-going operation and the ISI (Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence) and Pakistan army are eagerly looking forward to whatever they can pick up, particularly from the Indian media, because 80 per cent of all intelligence comes from open sources,” said General Roy Chaudhary, who was army chief from 1994 to 1997.Another former chief General JJ Singh concurred. “I don’t believe anybody has right to question the fact that we have conducted the operations and that we should show them evidence,” he said on Wednesday. After midnight last Wednesday, Indian troops went across the Line of Control and targeted seven terror launch pads or staging areas in Pakistan Occupied Territory. The army said “significant casualties” had been caused in the strikes seen as retaliation for the terror attack on an army camp in Kashmir’s Uri last month in which 19 soldiers were killed.
By all said and done, Military sources confirmed that footage of the strikes-filmed in part by drones – was submitted last week to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and by no means, can be handed over to whichever unformed person, just in the larger interest of nation’s security & integrity.
While, another ‘JUMPING-JACK, ENTERTAINER’ of J&K, Independent Kashmir legislator Er Rashid on Wednesday claimed that Indian army was making a video of a fake operation in Leepa valley in frontier district of Kupwara to present it as evidence of its claimed surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC).Addressing media persons at a local hotel here, he said:
The very credible sources confirm that Indian army is engaged in filming videos in Nowgam and Leepa sectors, adjacent to borders showing as if army is carrying out covert operations in enemy’s territory, so that the same can be provided as evidence to satisfy Indian masses and world community.
However, with scenes of fresh violence on Day 89th that left few more injured at Bandipora, Bijbihara and adjoining areas, joint Hurriyat resistance group today once again issued afresh protest calendar and extended their shut down till October 13th; while calling people to occupy roads leading to police stations on October, 10th as protests. And, an organization of Kashmir based traders / businessmen, also protested against the arrests of anti-Indians at Kashmir including Yasin Malik.
At the end, Security put on high alert across Jammu, where Pakistan once again violates the ceasefire in Suderbani and Mendhar sector that going-on with heavy gun & mortar battle between the forces, till reports last.
