UP CM Akhilesh Yadav was quick enough to respond to the photographs that went viral on the social networking site Facebook. The pictures showed a Lucknow cop breaking the typewriter of a daily wage earner Krishna Kumar. In the name of removing encroachment from the Lucknow’s posh Hazratganj, the sub- inspector on Saturday kicked at his typewriter, misbehaved with him.
65-year-old Krishna sits outside GPO for the last three decades, earning Rs 50 daily after spending 10 hours at work. The typewriter he owned was the only source of his livelihood. Sub-inspector Pradeep Kumar’s inhuman act was caught by a photo journalist who was passing by. He put the pictures on Facebook after which the post was widely shared.
The Chief Minister’s Office took note of the post and initiated action against the erring officer. The sub-inspector was later suspended on the orders of CM for his unethical conduct. The CMO in a tweet ordered the DSP and DM of the city to visit him and gift a new typewriter.
At night, the DSP and SSP visited Krishna Kumar and presented him a new typewriter as per the instruction of CM Akhilesh Yadav. They also apologised for the rude behavior of the cop,the CMO tweeted.
The tweet also asked prinicipal secretary(Home) and the DGP to sensitize police.
