Power Grid Corporation of India Limted, Northern Region-II, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Forests Department celebrated the World Environment Day by organizing various programmes including Tree plantation and Inter School Painting Competition. The plantation drive was carried out in the vicinity of POWERGRID office and township whereas the painting Competition was organised in the Community Centre of POWERGRID. The plantation drive was led by Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu Roshan Jaggi, IFS and General Managers of POWERGRID Amarjit GM (Consultancy S.D Joshi, GM(Projects). B.M Sharma, Conservator of Forest, Jammu(East), S. Bharti Conservator of Forests , Jammu West, Chief Manager HR POWERGRID , R.Narayan, DFO Urban Forestory Division Jammu, Hitashi Sharma and senior officers and employees of both POWERGRID and J&K Forests Department attended the function. Around 60 plants of various species were planted on this occasion.
A painting Competition was also organised at the POWERGRID, Community centre on the theme of “World Environment Day ” Around Seventy five students of various schools participated in this painting competition despite today being a Sunday . The painting material and all tools were provided to the children by the organisors. Children through these painting expressed their concern on the degradation of environmental health and suggested various measures to save our environment from further destruction. Roshan Jaggi on this occasion expressed his happiness in successful organizing of this event. He was particularly impressed as the programme was organised in collaboration with an organization that has earned national and international recognition. He hoped that J&K Forest and POWERGRID will work together in improving the environmental health in J&K.
