Proceedings in MP Assy adjourned twice over irregularities in Simhastha

The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today witnessed uproarious scene as the principal opposition Congress demanded a discussion of the expenditure on the Simhasth Kumbh Mahaparv in Ujjain and alleged
irregularities.
Congerss members ? led by acting Leader of the Opposition Bala Bachchan ? trooped into the well of the House and shouted slogans demanding a 30-minute discussion on the issue.
Speaker Sitasaran Sharma appealed to the Congress members to take to their seats and he would discuss the matter in his chamber, but as the Congress members were adamant, he adjourned the proceedings for ten minutes and again for the second time till 1500 hrs.
During Question Hour, Jeetu Patwari (Congress) asked Urban Development and Housing Minister Maya Singh to furnish the details of department-wise expenditure during Simhastha and pointed out that question was raised in the Parliament also but the statistics and figures given by the Minister differed with the answer given in the Parliament. He wanted to know about the anomalies in the reply.
Dissatisfied over Ms Singh’s reply, Congress members, including Bachchan, Ramniwas Rawat and others demanded a discussion on the issue. Bachchan said he submitted a 60-page report two days back and wanted discussion over it.
Meanwhile, the Zero Hour started and members started reading their notices but Congress members trooped to the well and shouted slogans demanding discussion on Simhastha and the prevailing malnutrition in the state.
Bachchan said that Rs 1,500 crore financial irregularities took place during the religious congregation and he got evidence. He said discussion should be conducted.
Patwari demanded to constitute a committee to probe into the ‘scam’ in Simhastha.
Speaker took up the Zero Hour proceedings but the Congress members continued to create ruckus.
Amid pandemonium, the Speaker adjourned the
proceedings for ten minutes.
