Rahul meets Karunanidhi at hospital, said Hello to him

Chennai, December 17
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today flew down from New Delhi and called on ailing DMK Chief M Karunanidhi at the Kauvery hospital, where he was re-admitted on Thursday night due to throat and lung infections and underwent a tracheostomy procedure yesterday. Rahul, who arrived by a special aircraft, drove down straight to the hospital from the airport and metKarunanidhi and enquired about his health condition. Later talking to reporters in front of the hospital,Rahul said he personally metKarunanidhi and spoke to him. Yes I met him (Karunanidhi), I said hello to him and he is doing well hopefully he will be out (of the hospital) soon”, he said.
He also said AICC President Sonia Gandhi has also sent her regards to him.
“I just met him, I wanted to personally wish him a speedy recovery.
I was very happy to see that he is doing well and the doctors told me that he is going to go home pretty soon and that is good news”, he said. He said ” Karunanidhi was a “leader of the Tamil people, leader of Tamil Nadu, so I thought I would come and wish him personally.” This was the first meeting Rahul had with the DMK stalwart. ThoughRahul had twice came the city–once to visit AIADMK Supremo and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospital and later visited to pay homage to the late leader–he did not meet Karunanidhi, as the leader of the senior most alliance party.
