Railways to promote J&K tourism

To boost the tourism in the state, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti appealed the Indian Railways to promote tourism and handicrafts in J&K. As with the involvement of Railways in tourism projects, the state’s economy will be get the boost. Already state especially in Kashmir valley suffered crores of loss due to fall in tourism but now with this kind of steps of government it will give boost not to tourism department but also provide morale support to those businessmen who deals in tourism and handicrafts.
With her (CM’s) plan, visitors would directly come to J&K through railways and can visit their destinations. As J&K is the only state which is bestow with huge tourism potential, varied and quality handicrafts but due to inadequate linkages to buyers and customers, the market potential had not been properly tapped. She said the Indian Railways with its extensive networks and customer base could become a game-changer for the state.
For promoting tourism, J&K government installed various stalls regarding handicrafts and tourist spots in various railway stations through this, people of India come to know about the handicrafts and tourist destinations of J&K. This will boost the tourism of J&K and economy also. CM appealed the Indian Railways to introduce special tourism trains and increasing frequency of many other trains to the state so that more and more people would come to state during vacations and visit tourist spots. Her this vision would boost the economy of state and make people of all the regions of state busy. Not only this, J&K government suggested the Railway deptt of glass-top coaches in trains would be introduced in the state so that visitors would enjoy the scenery, flora and fauna of the stat.
In her suggestion, introduction of see-through luxury trains from Qazigund to Baramulla and Jammu to Katra to familiarise tourists with the natural beauty of the state and attract more of them. She also requested for connecting more tourist spots in the state via railway network in the state. Her plans were appreciated by not only the people of J&K but also by the Central Railway Minister, Prabhu who in return promised her that his department would take concrete steps to translate her suggestions into action.
