The winter capital of the state heaved a sigh of relief from scroching heat as rain lashed in the plains have dipped the temperature by few degrees.
Jammu in the past 3 to 4 days recorded season’s maximum temperature 41.7 degree celsius. Meanwhile western disturbance hit the Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. Overnight rain lashed here last night followed by thunderstorm brought some relief to people of heat wave and rising temperature which fluctuated between 39 degree celsius to 41.7 degree celsius. “The temperature has come down and till noon the maximum recorded in Jammu was 34 degrees and the minimum was 17 degrees,” a weatherman said. He said that the weather will remain pleasant for couple of days but the mercury will start soaring thereafter. However, due to thunderstorm, the power supply remained snapped in most of the parts of Jammu city and outskirts.
“Technical snags have erupted in many areas due to thunderstorm and harsh winds, which has caused blackout in the town,” an official said.
He added that men are on job and electricity has been restored in most of the parts while it is being restored in others areas too.
