RCA roll out pensions for former Rajasthan Ranji players

After declaring a monthly pension scheme for former players in April this year, as many as 42 former Ranji players from the state have been given a monthly pension, the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) confirmed.
“Ultimately this sport is nothing without our great cricketers,” said Lalit Modi, the RCA president, in a release dated Thursday (June 30). “The help adds value to all our plans and schemes. If we take care of them in any way possible, the health of the sport will only grow. I have always believed in this dictum hence I will do everything possible in my power to take care of their well-being.
“We hope the start of this pension scheme will help us connect with our stalwarts even as we march into the future.”
As a part of the scheme, players who have played five to 14 matches will be given Rs. 5,000 per month while the players who have represented Rajasthan in 15 to 24 games, will be given an amount of Rs. 7,500.
This comes as a relief for the former players as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gives monthly pension to only those players who have played at least 25 first-class games.
