Srinagar, April 28
Restrictions have been imposed in some parts in north Kashmir district of Kupwara, where one person died and several others were injured allegedly in security force firing on demonstrators yesterday, when two fidayeen and three soldiers, including an officer were killed in an encounter.
Official sources said that restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in Kupwara, Kralpora, Lalpora, Sogam, Trehgam and Panzgam as a precautionary measure. Additional police and security forces have been deployed in these places to prevent any law and order problem.
Massive protests rocked Panzgam and Kralpora yesterday when locals took to streets, demanding return of bodies of two fidayeen killed in an encounter with troops. The encounter had ensued after the militants attacked an Army camp at Panzgam Chowkibal in Kupwara during which a Captain, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and a Naik were killed.
Situation elsewhere in the north Kashmir was normal with business and other activities going on smoothly and traffic plying on all routes normally.
