Up in arms against alleged callous attitude of the State Government towards their issues, hundreds of ReT Teachers from all the districts of the State held a massive protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground, here today.
The ReT Teachers, in the form of a procession, also tried to take out march towards the Civil Secretariat but were stopped by heavy contingent of Police near the Press Club Jammu where a dharna was staged for around three hours.
The protesting ReTs were raising slogans in support of their demands, particularly regularization of those who have already completed five years in service. The protest demonstration, under the banner of All J&K ReT Teacher Forum, was led by the Forum president Vinod Sharma.
The protesting ReTs dispersed off only after Additional DC, Rifat Kohli, personally reached the spot and assured to arrange their meeting with Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed in next two days.
While addressing ReTs during the protest demonstration, Vinod Sharma lambasted the State Government and the Education Department for their biased approach towards ReT fraternity. Regularization of ReTs who have completed 5 years service one and half years back, is still pending but the Government is harassing us on the name of verification and screening tests even as the court has ordered screening of only those Degrees, issued by Tuk shops/Fake Universities,” he said.
Further, he added, verification of degrees was initiated by the Department in August 2015 and the process has not yet been completed intentionally while the Education Minister and his subordinates are giving humiliating statements against RET community,
“The department has even failed to streamline the salary of SSA Teachers, which is pending for the last 6 to 8 months and the family members of thousands of teachers are on the verge of starvation,” he lamented and added that KGBV Teachers were also waiting for their regularization.
Vinod Sharma also demanded the implementation of High Court order regarding transfer policy of ReT Teachers and immediate revocation of order which debarred the regularized ReTs from Board exam duties.
State general secretary of the Forum, Najam Jafri, while speaking on the occasion, warned that in case their all grievances are not sorted out on priority basis, they would hold State wide protests for which the Government would be responsible.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included; Younis Rahi , Rajesh Jamwal, Bhupinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Naresh Sharma, Lekh Raj Parihar, Gulzabair Daing, Sajjad Malik, Manzoor Khan, Sukesh Khajuria, Sham Sharma, Subash Chander, Balwan Singh, Mahesh Kumar, Rinku Sharma, Tahir Masood, Naresh Thakur, Anita Kiran, Neha Sharma, Hamiet Wani, Reshi Singh Rana, Surjit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Manzoor Malik, Shahnawaz Hussain, Ashok Seth and Pawan.
