Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla Sunday claimed that alarm bells have started to ring in Jammu and Kashmir as the COVID-19 death toll in the Union Territory has more than doubled in the last fortnight.
“Since June 1, there has been a constant rise in the number of fatalities related to the deadly virus. The rising number of fatalities due to deadly virus is a matter of serious concern for all,” Bhalla said. He said it would be a ‘disaster’ if the administration failed to strictly enforce lockdown restrictions, especially in Kashmir, as it is the only solution as of now to contain the spread of the virus.
He said Government’s first and foremost priority should remain protecting the life and health of people of J&K and must be fully aware of the emerging situation. He urged all those who have been given relaxation to fully abide by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and not only enforce them on themselves but also generalize the same.
Bhalla stressed upon the people to look into and take their responsibilities with regard to lessen the risks and chances of spreading Coronavirus and take healthy benefit from the relaxation given by the Government.
“In this hapless situation, the cooperation of people with the administration and the health authorities is a must. Residents should follow the Government advisory on this,” the senior Congress leader said while interacting with prominent persons of Shankar Colony, Kunjwani Ward-55.
Expressing his anguish over mounting problems of the common masses, Bhalla said both Union Government and LG Administration have done nothing to solve basic problems of the people. He observed that day-to-day problems of the people are compounding with every passing day and there is no one to listen to their grievances as administration is not at all accessible to mitigate their sufferings.
